APRIL FOOLS! The weekend was quite alright, actually. Started out lame (thanks for LYING about the weather on Saturday, weather dudes!) but it ended well. It started out cloudy today, so we thought we wouldn’t be putting Pontunia in the water like we had hoped. But low and behold, the weird bright thing in the sky appeared and hope was restored. The children were so excited that they started a kissing war.
Getting the pontoon in the water is usually a job for Eric and Larry (our neighbor). Larry is still in Mexico, so I had to fill in for him. You see, spring arrived early this year so Pontunia is normally still parked on the lawn for a few more weeks, giving Larry time to get home and help out. Dang it, Larry! There is a lot of pressure here! So Eric launched the boat and immediately left with the trailer to go return it to the rental guy. Which left me to drive Pontunia back home. Put me coach, I’m ready! I brought my support staff.
And we were off.
They don’t seem very worried. I was just worried about mechanical failure, weed tangles, hitting the dock – ya know, the usual hazards.
But we made it back safely. Phew.
Then the real captain took his chair. First ride of the season! On April 1st! Crazy! Round of cold beers for everyone! Minus the children.
Cutest. Captain. Ever.
Back on dry (?) land, Avery had to use the bathroom so I went inside with her. I came back out to find that WATER BOY had shown up. You’ll recall that WATER BOY shows up every summer. He spends 95% of his time wet. Um, Water Boy, its only April 1st. WHAT are you DOING?!
It really was not THAT warm outside. That’s Water Boy for ya.
I turned to Avery and said, “Well, WE are not getting wet, right?” And she replied, “Thats right. Cuz we are laaaaaaadies.” Yes, yes we are.
Cheers to the ladies!
Hope you all had a good weekend too!
