Here is our Christmas letter and photo for this year.
It’s here! You’ve got it in your hands! The best (and lets face it, probably the only) Christmas letter you will get this year! It’s a dying art and I am working hard to keep it alive! That’s right – it’s Milly the cat again. Back to fill you in on what has been going on with our family. We’ve been very busy, so pay attention.
This year, I did much of the same. Still eating plastic bags when the opportunity presents itself, catching mice, making strange noises in the middle of the night, waking my people up at 4am and yep – still pukin’. This year, I also became interested in shredding the side of the couch. I think it looks much better this way, but apparently I’m wrong? I don’t know how this could be. All in all, it was a good year for me.
Next up – Dylan! He’s 5 now and going to preschool 3 times a week in Brainerd. He also just started his 3rd year of hockey and has gotten even faster. Our ice rink is just being “poured” now as I write this, so there will be lots more skating going on here soon. It’s not just skating for Dylan. He does it all, and let me tell you – GET OUT OF THE WAY when he is playing sports or risk losing your head or an appendage. Baseball, hockey, soccer, rollerblading, tennis, tubing on the lake with Dad and Avery and most recently this summer – waterskiing. Give Dylan a sport and he will whack the crap out of it! Next he says he’s going to take up downhill skiing. We’re all scared.
Little Miss Avery is 2 going on 16. Don’t tell her what to do or she will tell YOU where to shove it. She’s very independent and does everything “on her OWN!” Recently, they stopped having to pin her to the ground with their legs to change her diapers. That’s right, the big girl finally decided it was time to use the potty – had to be her idea though. She still peed on a floor a lot to show them all who’s boss (I don’t even do that!) but eventually she got the hang of it. Or “decided” to get the hang of it. She also learned to ride her tricycle (again, had to be on HER terms) and moved to a big girl bed when Dylan got his new log bunk bed. She is just starting to try out skating, but like with everything else – she does NOT want help which makes it tough to learn. Despite her mood swings, Avery continues to be a very loving little girl. She loves her babies, her daddy and her big brother the most. Her mom and I aren’t high on her list, but every once in awhile she throws us a bone. Or a cat toy.
Mom continues to hold down the fort. In addition to her duties as the CEO of Wikoff Industries, she became a Zumba instructor this past year. She teaches once a week in Brainerd. It’s enough to put a little walkin’ around money in her pocket and it also scored them a free family membership at the Y. Dad likes that, as he loves a good deal. And since they seem to enjoy workin’ on their fitness, it’s a win-win for everyone. ‘Cept for me. No cats allowed at the Y? Feline discrimination!
Speaking of Dad – guess who changed jobs AGAIN?! Willis out, Guy Carpenter in. He just can’t sit still! Literally! In addition to job hopping, Dad spends a lot of time in the yard, tinkering with the various boats he has acquired (pontoon count is up to 3, currently we have 2), waterskiing when the mood strikes, an old man hockey league, and he is also a coach for Dylan’s hockey team. Those whippersnappers keep him young. Or cause back aches and premature aging. It’s hard to tell. At any rate, Dad still does an outstanding job as the CFO of Wikoff Industries and as the VP of Analytics at GC.
In case you were looking for an update on last year’s “we’re putting our house on the market” news, there really isn’t much of an update to tell. No bites, barely any nibbles. Which is fine with me, as I like it here. The mice are plentiful and the neighbor’s dog’s offer quality entertainment and faces to vent frustration on! Not that there wouldn’t be new dogs and mice elsewhere, but you get the idea. Life is good on Sullivan Lake for another year!
Merry Christmas from our family to yours,
The Wikoffs – Eric, Tricia, Dylan, Avery and Milly the cat
