Our Photo Gallery

We got our pictures from our family photo session back in September.  And then our frames arrived on Friday afternoon.  I immediately went to work on the photo wall I’ve been envisioning for 2 months.  I got this slick idea here. Here is my first layout attempt.  Upon getting it up on the wall, I realized it just wasn’t quite right.  It needed to stretch out more.

Much better!  Eric did the hammering and hardware installation on the frames.  He also did some grumbling.  Something about sheet rock not holding them up?  Come on!  People have photo walls!  Not every photo needs a stud!  Sheesh.  But if anyone has any tips on how to make these pics stay put when a door slams or a breeze sweeps through, please pass them along.  I know someone will be all, “I told you so!” the second this happens.

Finished wall!  Looks pretty spiffy I must say!  And Mr Grumbly agreed!  I like how there is still room on each side for holiday decor, etc.  I’m in search of a nice decorative “W” to go in there somewhere.

Here are some close ups of some of the pics.  Love them all!  Thanks again to Poly Mendes!  You rock!

Looks good—the W would look good right above the pix of you and Eric and maybe a shelf like J&R’s under the family pix???

Hercules Hooks are the the best way to hang anything not on a stud! They don’t even work on a stud. I’m in love with them. There are now knock offs available at Home Depot / Lowe’s etc.

The real secret to keeping pictures in place is to use two hooks, rather than one. If you place the hooks as wide apart as possible (depending on the length of the hanging string/wire), it means they won’t slide around (at least, not as much).

For anything that comes set up to take just one hook, I always drill my own holes in the sides of the back of the frame, so that it can take hanging string and get two-hooked.
