Dylan celebrated his 5th birthday for the 4th time on Monday at school. Avery and I went with. She went to play, I went to take pictures. : ) Here is Dylan with his new best buddy (move over Evan!) Riley.
Avery jumped right in and started playing with the other kids. She remembered this girl’s name pretty easily – Ella!
And even though her name wasn’t called, Avery participated in the activities as though she was part of the class!
Dylan donned the birthday crown and showed off his baby picture for his class.
He was a mere three months old in this picture – one of his first “real” smiles.
Here he is with his fake cake. They got nothing on our pizza cake!
Time for some art! Avery jumped right in!
Dylan is doing better with participating in the art projects this year. Last year he was always too busy playing. It seems like he’s doing better with working on his crafts. Or at least he was when I was there.
Doing more art!
Avery didn’t leave the paint tables. Destined to follow in my footsteps and be artsy and craftsy.
Working together! So cute! Too bad they won’t be in the same class next year. Avery will start at Learning Tree and D will be off to kindergarten.
After crafts, Avery moved on to her mecca – baby and kitchen area. She was right at home.
The 3 musketeers – Dylan, Riley and Carson (the boy in the orange shirt).
Still at home. And comfortable enough to go ahead and pee her pants (right after I took this picture and right after I asked her if she had to go and she said NO)! Just like at home! LOL
After school, we headed to the doctor’s office for Dylan’s 5 year well child check up. He weighs 42 pounds and is 3 feet 8 inches tall. This puts him in the 75th percentile for height and 60th for weight. Unfortunately, he had to get 3 shots and the flu sniffer and he was NOT happy about it. 2 nurses had to hold him down for the shots. Boy was he mad! So I had to bribe him with ice cream for lunch. Dairy Queen it was!
I was pleased to find it was Pumpkin Pie Blizzard time! Oh yeah baby.
And since its been awhile since there has been a food post – feast your eyes on Dylan’s favorite food! Waffles.
We made waffles on Sunday morning and they stunk, so I asked my little brother’s lady friend for the recipe she uses. She made us waffles over the summer at my parents cabin and we were all blown away by them. They take a little elbow grease to get the job done, but the end result is light, crunchy, fluffy waffles. Heres the recipe – in case you feel like getting an arm workout (don’t do what I did and get a flu shot and then try to beat egg whites!):
Waffles from Laura Kling
Dylan was a fan! As were the rest of us! Thanks a bunch, Laura!
That’s it from us for today!
